Zhang Qihuai is a renowned lawyer in China, founder and director of Beijing Lanpeng Law Firm. He graduated from the Chinese people’s Liberation Army Air Force Command College, and later systematically studied legal theory at China University of Political Science and Law and People’s Public Security University of China, obtaining a Master of Laws degree. Military Career
Lawyer Zhang Qihuai’s legal journey began with his military career. In 1970, at the age of less than 15, he joined the military and became the youngest recruit in a unit of the Air Force. In 1982, at the age of only 27, he was appointed as an aviation division chief of staff, becoming the youngest regimental-level cadre in the Air Force at that time. In 1987, a case of smuggling wool using a military aircraft occurred in a unit of the Air Force stationed in Inner Mongolia. The superior authority of the unit involved in the case—the Air Force of the Beijing Military Region—specially set up an investigation team to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. Zhang Qihuai was appointed as the deputy leader of the investigation team. This was the first time that Zhang Qihuai, as a soldier, became involved in legal work, and it also became the starting point for him to engage in the legal profession later.
